Meet The Lady is an NYC collective that pays tribute to efforts of women in the performing arts. Our monthly variety show has played to sold-out audiences at 92YTribeca since Spring 2010. These events are a collage of film clips, performances, presentations, and live interviews with fascinating talents from every medium (recent guests include Louise Lasser, Beth Grant, and Nellie McKay).
In addition to our events, Meet The Lady maintains an archive of reclaimed photographs (mostly attained via flea markets and rubbage heaps) that present everyday women as objects of personal or historical fascination.
The Meet The Lady tumblr blog (our main page) was founded by Tom Blunt and Chris Kelly in 2009. Our partners in crime include Colin Shepherd, David Archer, Roslyn Hart, and Sonya Moore.
Tom Blunt a writer, performer, and designer living in New York City. He recently (barely) appeared in the viral web video “Shit New Yorkers Say,” and one of his comedy videos was recently featured by The Huffington Post. Tom is also the technical director for the new Joe’s Pub cabaret sensation “Never Sleep Alone,” which was featured in the New York Times.
Tom’s blog Doom Cakes, about the evil powers that cinematic cakes seem to possess, was featured in The Guardian in 2011, and his work has been showcased on The Huffington Post, The Hairpin, and the Random House blog Word and Film.
